DeLaval consolidates cooling tank operations

On 28 April 2005, DeLaval held what is probably one of its most important events in 2005: the inauguration of its new milk cooling-tank factory in Wrocław, Poland. DeLaval executives, national as well as international guests attended.

The event marks the consolidation of the company’s European cooling-tank production to completely new facilities in Wrocław – to further increase capacity, gain economies of scale, and gather expertise into one production site. The Wrocław factory is strategically located close to big potential clients in countries such as the Baltics, Bulgaria, Russia, and Ukraine to name but a few.

“It’s no secret that demand from traditional markets is leveling off,” says Leszek Jarosz, DeLaval’s regional president for eastern Europe, “while demand from eastern and southern Europe as well as northern Europe is increasing. The plant is our response to increasing demand from new markets.”

The Wrocław site will also be the site for innovation. Right now, the factory manufactures two product lines: open tanks, which come in two models and 12 capacities, ranging from 200 to 1800 liters and closed tanks, which come in three models and 24 capacities, ranging from 1100 to 32 000 liters.

The Cooling operation employs 140 people in its factory, warehouse, and office, and it is responsible for: Planning, purchasing, components and materials storage, production, quality assurance, new product launches, customer service and claims services, facilities and equipment maintenance.
